Biyani Group of Colleges organised an inspiring and interactive programme on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti and Shastri Jayanti, aimed at encouraging students and youth to understand the importance of truth, discipline, ethical values and social responsibility in their personal and professional lives.
The programme began with a floral tribute to Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri. The tribute was offered by the chief guest Dr. Naresh Kumar Thakral, former IAS officer and Member Secretary of the Rajasthan State Finance Commission, along with Director Dr. Sanjay Biyani , Dean and Principal Dr. Dhyan Singh Gothwal, B.Ed. Principal Dr. Shipra Gupta, and faculty members.
Message to Become Responsible Citizens
Addressing the students, Dr. Naresh Kumar Thakral encouraged them to become responsible citizens and emphasised the importance of incorporating truth, non-violence, discipline and ethical values into their daily lives.
He interacted with students, the newly elected Student Council, students from the IT and Law departments, and faculty members. He discussed the thoughts and values of Mahatma Gandhi and highlighted their continued relevance for today’s younger generation.
Verify Information Before Accepting It
Dr. Thakral also spoke about the growing influence of social media in today’s digital age. He advised students to verify the authenticity of information and check facts before accepting or sharing any information.
He encouraged students to use social media and digital platforms responsibly and develop a habit of critical thinking.
Encouraging Students to Follow the Values of the Bhagavad Gita
Director Dr. Sanjay Biyani spoke about the influence of the Shrimad Bhagavad Gita on Mahatma Gandhi’s life. He highlighted how Gandhi not only studied the teachings of the Gita but also incorporated its principles into his life and actions.
He encouraged students to draw inspiration from the values taught in the Gita and apply them in their everyday lives. He also emphasised the importance of ethical values and self-discipline in shaping the lives of young people.
Remembering the Ideals of Gandhi and Shastri
Dean and Principal Dr. Dhyan Singh Gothwal highlighted the values of simplicity, truthfulness, integrity and dedication to the nation demonstrated by Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri.
He encouraged students to learn from the lives of these great personalities and bring positive changes to their own lives.
During the programme, the speakers also referred to Gandhi’s thought, “My life is my message,” and encouraged students to practise self-reflection, discipline and ethical values while taking responsibility for creating positive social change.
Interactive Session with Students
The programme also included an interactive session in which students raised questions on various social and contemporary issues. Dr. Thakral responded to their questions and engaged with the students through a meaningful discussion.
The interaction provided students with an opportunity to understand the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri and relate their teachings to present-day life. The programme concluded with a strong message for students to embrace ethical values, practise discipline and contribute responsibly to society.
