Figuring Out Life in College

College is the place where we spend the most significant years of our lives. We are just teenagers who have passed out of school. Or it's also possible that we are the ones who still lack awareness of the things and opportunities around us.

College is a phase in which we are supposed to grow, get skilled, make connections, and be academically strong. So, if you are unsure of what to do next or where life will take you, it’s normal and okay.

You don’t have to have your whole life figured out in college.

It’s Okay to be Unsure.

We are often expected to choose the right career, to set goals, to get our interested subjects, to discover more skills, to find an internship that suits our field, and to build a strong resume. But among so many expectations, our desires fade away. And it turns out that we feel less motivated about ourselves. The problem lies neither in us nor in the one who expects all this. It’s natural to feel all this.

When the competition is higher, we are supposed to be prepared from the initial days. And this preparation for making a decision is beneficial, but it’s not a necessity to do it.

Everyone has their Own Timelines.

There is no fixed time when you should start thinking about the future.

College gives you many opportunities where you can identify what is meant for you. Your ambition for one thing should come naturally; it should not be forced.

The learning can come from living with someone or your roommate. It can come from a teacher who notices your interest in a subject. It can come from a random activity you participate in.

The right guidance will automatically lead you to a point where it will be easier to think about everything else.

What can I do to Have Life Figured Out?

Breathe. Learn. Become. And repeat the cycle.

Give yourself time to think. Talk to people; make conversations a big part of your life. Books teach us a lot, but what we learn through conversations, people, brilliant minds, and our own thoughts is unmatchable.

So, does it mean we should get influenced by others?

No, listening to others doesn't mean you have to agree with them; getting influenced is a whole different thing. Conversations help you think differently; they give you critical thinking, which helps you in figuring things out. Having an opinion of your own comes from hearing many others. It may give you ten different ways to overcome one problem.

Life could have a lot going on at once. And you are supposed to enjoy it, not just figure it out.
