Cyber crime, refers to any crime that is done on Internet. Cyber crime is criminal’s misuse of the Internet. The criminal has motive to intentionally harm the status of the target or cause physical or mental harm to the victim directly or indirectly, using Internet and mobile phones. The blackmailing may be done by internet chats, video calling, phone calls, SMS , MMs etc.. There are also problems of security when private information is lost.The international legal system is attempting to solve these crimes are under “ International Criminal Court”.Computer crime includes a large number of activities. Basically, it may be divided into two categories:
- Crimes that target computers directly; It includes virus, Malware etc.
- Crimes performed by computer networks . It includes all types of fraud which are done online or by Internet.
These crimes generally involve technical expertise. Cyber crimes are committed by a selected group of criminals or individuals. Computer fraud is any fraudulent representation of fact intended to let another to do which causes loss. These loss include bank fraud, identity theft, extortion, and theft of classified information.Most cyber crime is damage of information about individuals, private or government companies. Government websites are the current targets of the hackers because of the press coverage, it receives.
