DEFINITION:-
Parkinson’s disease is a chronic, progressive, neurologic disorder that results from the loss of neurotransmitters (dopamine) in an areas of brain , that control & regulate movements.

Encephalitis
Meningitis
Arteriosclerosis
Some medications
Hydrocephalus

SIGN/SYMPTOMS:-
• Tremor
• Rigidity
• Bradykinesia
• flexed posture of the neck, trunk and limbs
• Neuromuscular changes

DIAGNOSIS:-
-Taking history
-Physical examination
-MRI
-Positive response to anti-Parkinson’s drugs.
MANAGEMENT:-
1. Medical management-
 Antiparkinsons drugs like levodopa, amantadine.
 Anticholinergics drugs like benztropine or biperidine
 Antihistamine drugs
 Antidepressant drugs
2. Surgical management-
 Ablation surgery
 DBS surgery
 Transplantation
